Winnipeg Local Management Board
Single Seat Purchase
Objective
Single Seat Purchases are designed to support the development of customized training plans to address individual barriers to employment.
Who Can Apply?
Clients (Metis, Inuit or non-Status) are invited to meet with an Employment Counselor to identify employment barriers. They learn how to create an action plan that is tailored towards Labour Market Demand vocational training.
Eligible Participants
Qualified participants (Metis, Inuit or non-Status) are those facing serious labour market difficulty for whom employment skills and training is required to overcome their employment barriers.
Financial Assistance
Support is available for costs directly associated with the single seat purchase. Specific financial assistance is determined and approved by the Local Management Board.
Please note that applications are processed in the order they are received and may take 6-8 weeks to process. See an Employment Counselor early to develop an action plan.
Eligible service providers for each of the following programs include: public and private employers, non-profit organizations, educational institutions, Municipal Governments and community development corporations.
Summer Career Placement
The Summer Career Placement Program is a Youth Employment Plan developed to provide students with the work experience and resources necessary for entry into today's labour force.
Eligible Participants
Participants (Metis, Inuit or non-Status) must be students attending school full-time during the preceding academic year and intend to return to school on a full time basis for the following academic year.
Financial Assistance
A project can receive financial assistance for a minimum of 4 weeks with a maximum of 16 weeks during the summer months. Eligible costs may include wages and other mandatory employment related costs for 4-16 weeks.
Local Labour Market Partnerships
The Local Labour Market Partnership is a program designed to support community efforts in identifying the labour market needs within a specific community and determining the types of programs and services required to address those needs.
Financial Assistance
A project can receive financial assistance with overhead costs associated with leadership, promotions, communications and coordination.
Job Opportunities
Job Opportunities is a labour market program designed to assist unemployed individuals to make career decisions based on first hand experience related to their occupational goal while improving their overall employment prospects.
Eligible Participants
Participants (Metis, Inuit or non-Status) are those who are unemployed and in need of work experience and insight related to their career goal.
Financial Assistance
The eligible participant may receive a training allowance or the applicant (employer) may receive support for wages.
Targeted Wage Subsidy
A Targeted Wage Subsidy is a labour market program designed to make it smart and affordable for employers to provide on-the-job training for individuals who are experiencing difficulty finding employment by providing a wage subsidy.
Eligible Participants
Participants (Metis, Inuit or non-Status) are those who are unemployed and having difficulty making the transition to work.
Financial Assistance
The applicant (employer) may be assisted by the MMF-HRDT Department by subsidizing the wages to eligible participants in their occupational field. contributions are generally negotiated based on the needs of the participant and the qualifications of the position to be filled.
Project Based Training
Objective
Project Based Training is a labour market program designed to encourage partnerships with industry and institutions to deliver specific training activities which meet current labour market demands.
Eligible Participants
Qualified participants (Metis, Inuit or non-Status) are those facing labour market difficulties in obtaining specific occupational training to improve their career prospects.
Financial Assistance
Support is available for direct costs associated with the delivery of service. Specific costs are regionally determined and approved by the Local Management Board.
